Old Slovenian towns that are proud of their uniqueness are united in the Association of Historic Towns of Slovenia. The easily accessible towns with architectural heritage exhibit the diversity of culture from prehistory through the Middle Ages to the Baroque and the present day. As many as one-third of Slovenia’s town have the status of a protected monument. The towns united in the Association ensure they preserve and revive their uniquess and host an abundance of events through the year.

Slovenj Gradec
PEACE MESSENGER CITY
The ancient town, located in the basin between Pohorje and Uršlja gora and boasting with the title of "Peace Messenger City", is a Slovenian synonym for a cultural center, where the rich tradition of the past lends a hand with a modern pulse. Brežice

Jesenice
THE TOWN OF STEEL AND FLOWERS
Jesenice is situated between the Mežakla plateau and the Karavanke mountains. The town is best known among historians for its ironworks, among sports enthusiasts for its ice-hockey, and among lovers of nature for its daffodils. Visitors enthuse about the Stara Sava museum area, with its preserved elements of an ironworks settlement, where the past and the present and intertwined throughout.
Kamnik
A MEDIEVAL TOWN
In the Middle Ages, Kamnik, a town in the embrace of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, was a booming commercial town where the Bavarian Counts of Andeches had their seat.
Tržič
THE DRAGON'S TOWN OF THE ENTERPRISING AND THE SKILLED
The Ancient Romans forged a transportation route through Tržič and over a millenium later Tržič's shoemakers followed in their path. The town has its roots in dragon mythology, and the longest tradition of shoemaking in Slovenia.
Slovenske Konjice

Slovenske Konjice is an attractive medieval town located between the mysterious Konjiška gora mountain and the sunny hills of the wine-growing Škalc. A CITY OF SITULAE
A city, which is new in name, reveals its heritage from the times before Christ. Between the hills with their vineyards and the bend on the Krka river, Novo mesto surprises with its precious objects from the Iron Age. Situlae, skillfully decorated bronze pails, were once used at feasts. If they were still in use today in the cultural capital of Dolenjska, they would no doubt be filled with cviček wine!
Radovljica
SLOVENIA'S SWEETEST TOWN
Visit the capital of Slovenian beekeeping and chocolate. Quaint Linhart Square is full of houses from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries adorned by colourful facades where the heritage of beekeeping and honeybread making can be discovered. The town with the most hours of sunshine in Gorenjska is also ideal for enjoying active outdoor and cultural experiences.
Kostanjevica na Krki
A SMALL TOWN FOR BIG ADVENTURES
The only Slovenian town on an island, with a rich natural and cultural heritage, which enables unique adventures and visits to the attractions of the historic town centre, the Kostanjevica cave, the Forma Viva Sculpture Park, and the Božidar Jakac Gallery.
